Whether you're walking through a forest or sitting atop a steep peak, it seems like the best place to be is somewhere cool. Which must be why expeditions are so popular right now! This month we have a host of Assessor requests, an opportunity to join the Gold Award Forum and much, much more...

Calling All Assessors!

We have a number of groups looking for assessors this month; please see the dates below as you may be able to help. 
Elmgreen School require an Assessor for Friday 3rd/Saturday 4th July. Please contact Kevin Welsh if you can help at kwelsh@the-elmgreen-school.org.uk
Knight’s Academy requires an Assessor for Saturday 4th-Monday 6th July in the New Forest. There are 22 Silver students in four groups. Contact j.bush@haaf.org.uk if you can help.
West London Free School require an Assessor for Wednesday 15th/Thursday 16th of July. There are two Bronze award groups going to the Box Hill / Farnham area. Contact L.Mathews@wlfs.org if you can help.
An Assessor is required for a Silver group from The Campion School going to the New Forest on the Thursday 9th to Saturday 11th July. If you can help, please contact Roy Hendley on rhendley@thecampionschool.org 
Sydney Russell School require an Assessor for Saturday 4th/Sunday 5th July. A Bronze group will be going to Epping Forest. Contact either Louise Rose - lro@sydney-r.bardaglea.org.uk, or Charlotte Smith - csm@sydney-r.bardaglea.org.uk if you can assist.
All Saints School require an Assessor for the Thursday Thursday 9th/ Friday 10th July for a Bronze expedition to Epping Forest . Contact Shaun Eason - season@AllSaintsSchool.co.uk
A group from Bromley requires an Assessor for an expedition to the South Downs from the Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th July. Contact David Finlay on: 07824188310.

Additional Needs Network Meeting
The next Additional Needs Network Meeting will be on Thursday 22nd July 20155:00-6:45pm at the London Regional Office in the Victoria Charity Centre. Find minutes of previous meetings here.
If you work in any environment with young people with additional needs then you are very welcome to join this informal group.

You Are Gold (Gold!)
Join the Gold Award forum and help the DofE London plan our delivery for the future. 
You will have the opportunity to meet other young Londoners currently doing their Gold programme or moving towards the Gold level. You will be able to use your creativity to give the youth perspective on the DofE and enhance your leadership and teamwork skills while making friends. Committing to the monthly meetings could count towards your Gold Volunteering or Skills section.
There is also the opportunity to take part in a once in a lifetime residential experience.

Delivering the Gold DofE
This half day workshop will train Leaders in how to deliver successful Gold DofE programmes and roll them out in their school / centre. It will cover the specifics of delivering Gold DofE programmes, from appropriately planning and seeking funding to timetabling meetings, using eDofE to your advantage and covering the specifics of the Expedition and Residential sections.
You should attend an Introduction to the DofE course OR have knowledge of DofE programmes before you attend this course.
Venue: DofE London Office, Victoria Charity Centre
Course fee: £FREE (£50 cancellation fee)
Afternoon workshop: 1pm to 5pm.

EAAS Deadline Reminder

This is the final reminder about the July deadline for using the March 2015 EAAS forms.

As of Wednesday 1st July DofE Offices have ceased accepting any older versions of the forms. Please therefore use this final reminder as an opportunity to make sure your Licensed Organisation is using only ‘March 2015’ versions of the EAAS administration forms. From July onwards only ‘March 2015’ forms will be accepted by the DofE Offices.



Hill and Moorland Leader Training

The Hill and Moorland Leader award is designed for people who want to lead groups in the hill and moorland areas of the UK and Ireland. It is well suited for those who wish to lead Gold DofE walking expeditions. You must be at least 18 years old, have at least a year’s worth of experience of hill walking and have an interest in leading groups in the hills.

The training course will take place from the 9th to the 11th of October 2015 at Trewern Outdoor Centre, Black Mountains / Brecon Beacons.

The course fee is £215 + VAT and registration and £39 registration with Mountain Training UK.

Gold expedition opportunity with Sutton

A Gold qualifying expedition to the Peak District is running from Monday 17th August to Friday 21st August.

There are currently four participants who would welcome anyone who would like to join them. Transport will be provided from and to Sutton.
